So I've been in school a long time, probably too long. But that means I've taken a lot of classes, and had a lot of teachers presenting their ideas and trying to get students to remember and understand. Some are more successful than others in my opinion... I know for a fact that I will never forget recursion... you just "eat fettuccine"
Yesterday we were told that UML can be used to represent anything in requirements engineering even if you as the engineer don't understand the terms. As demonstrated by the problem description "The thingamagig snarked the doodad". And forever that lesson will be in my head... Overall however this prof, also my advisor, is a really good presenter. Hes deaf and that presents obstackles but he gets his point across very well and the jokes aren't bad either.
I'm taking 2.5 classes this semester. (and I'm finally officially registered in them)
- Requirement specification and analysis;
- Topics in AI - Preference Elicitation;
- (2.5) Grad seminar series (which is basically cs grad school 101).
The first one is all about the requirement engineering process, it will have a lot of UML and such but it sounds interesting. The big group project is to put together a specification doc for the school's student information system. The current system is pretty damn horrible and I actually miss the one at Windsor. Second class is pretty interesting but is going to be pretty challenging for me since I really don't know much about AI... but
preference elicitation can be very closely related to requirements engineering and HCI. Particularly in the light of user modelling. The last class is a feel good class... this week we were learning about time management but the presenter ran out of time before they finished... quite funny.
